Warranty explained

Two different warranties. Here’s what each one covers.

The most common misunderstanding in roof coating is thinking “15-year warranty” means the whole roof job is covered for 15 years. It doesn’t.

Dulux Acratex material warranty

Dulux Acratex publishes a residential roof membrane material warranty of up to 15 years when its system is applied to specification by a professional applicator. In plain English, it covers:

  • Film integrity: the coating itself peeling or cracking because of a manufacturing fault

It does not cover:

  • Colour fade
  • Mould or algae growth
  • Labour, access or re-application costs
  • Faulty preparation or workmanship
  • Severe weather
  • Roofs previously painted after installation, in some cases

It starts at the date of purchase of the product, is not transferable to a new owner, applies to single-occupancy residential, and any claim must be made within 30 days of becoming aware of the problem. The remedy is a pro-rated product replacement, repair or refund, not free labour.

Our workmanship terms

Peeling usually traces back to preparation and application, which the manufacturer’s material warranty doesn’t cover. That’s why our own workmanship warranty is set out in writing with your quote, covering the work we do: ridge bedding and pointing, tile replacement, and leaks caused by our work. It excludes storm and impact damage and damage by other trades after we leave.

Your Queensland statutory protections for domestic building work, including home warranty insurance for work over $3,300 incl. GST, apply in addition.

What you’ll get from usA written statement of what is covered, for how long, who to call and how we handle claims, before you sign. We also photograph the roof on the last day so there’s a clear record.

Before you choose any roofer, ask

  • Who is giving the warranty: the paint manufacturer, the roofer, or both?
  • Is it in writing, and does it say what is excluded?
  • Does it cover labour if the coating fails?
  • Is it transferable if you sell?
