The process

Tile roof restoration, ridge first

Most failed roof coatings fail because of what was skipped underneath. Here’s what we do, in order, and why.

  1. Roof Health Check

A free, safe-access inspection with photos. We check tile condition, ridge and hip bedding, pointing, valleys, flashings and any earlier coating, and give you an honest view: repair, restore or replace. For homes built before 1990 we check for asbestos-containing materials before anything is cleaned or coated. You keep the photos either way.

  2. Fixed, itemised quote

What will be done, where, with which products and what is excluded, in writing and line by line, so you can compare it with your online estimate and with anyone else’s quote.

  3. Set-up & edge protection

Drop sheets, an exclusion zone below the work area and roof-edge protection go up before anyone works on the roof. Two-storey homes get scaffold-style edge protection.

  4. Clean & treat

High-pressure clean and mould and lichen treatment, so the new surface bonds to sound tile, not to growth.

  5. Repair

Cracked and broken tiles replaced. Valleys and flashings repaired where selected.

  6. Re-bed & re-point the ridge

Ridge and hip capping is re-bedded where needed and re-pointed with flexible pointing. It’s the part of a tiled roof most often neglected, and it’s where our name comes from.

  7. Prime

A sealer or primer matched to the condition of your tiles. Different surfaces need different primers, and getting this wrong is a common cause of peeling.

  8. Two-coat membrane

Two coats of roof membrane in your chosen colour, applied to the manufacturer’s specification and only on dry tiles with a dry forecast. Premium and Complete get a third coat; a big colour change gets an extra coat.

  9. Quality check & handover

A final walk-through, a photo record of each stage, coating warranty registration in your name where it applies, and a simple roof-care guide.

What we won’t doWe don’t clean, scrape or coat a roof that may contain asbestos. We don’t give online prices for roofs steeper than 40° or three storeys and up. Solar panels are removed and refitted by a licensed electrician, not our crew.
How long it takesA typical single-storey roof takes three to five working days, weather permitting. Coatings can’t go on wet tiles or ahead of forecast rain, so we schedule around the weather and keep you posted.
